Celebrating courage, craftsmanship, and the wooden wonder
At Stardust Spirits, we’ve always believed that every bottle should tell a story. Our Pathfinder series—a special edition gin and rum—was created to honour the daring crews of the RAF’s Pathfinder squadrons, and the remarkable aircraft they flew: the De Havilland Mosquito.
A Tribute in a Bottle
The Mosquito was a marvel of wartime design—fast, agile, and made largely of wood. Nicknamed “The Wooden Wonder,” it played a crucial role in marking targets for bomber raids, flying at night with silent precision. We created Pathfinder Gin and Pathfinder Rum to reflect that same clarity, balance, and quiet strength.
Pathfinder Gin
Our London Dry gin is juniper-forward with layers of carefully chosen botanicals:
Bitter orange & grapefruit: echo the brilliance of target flares
Heather & gorse: reflect the British countryside from above
Angelica & orris root: structure and grounding—just like the Mosquito’s airframe
Grains of paradise & liquorice root: warmth and silent complexity
Pathfinder Rum
A sipping rum crafted through careful redistillation, this spirit is rich and nuanced:
Cocoa & espresso: inspired by the night-time camouflage of the Mosquito
Black pepper: bold like the precision of a Pathfinder sortie
Red & yellow grapefruit peel: flashes of brightness like a flare in the dark
Heather & honey: a nod to British landscapes and resilience
Squadron 627
627 Squadron
We dedicate these spirits to No. 627 Squadron, formed in 1943 and tasked with dangerous, high-precision bombing and target-marking. Their badge—a diving hawk clutching a firebrand—symbolises their speed and accuracy. Their motto? “At first sight.”
Only 50 Bottles Made
Each bottle of Pathfinder Gin and Pathfinder Rum has been crafted in micro-batches using a 4-litre still. Only 50 bottles of each have been made, exclusively for the Duxford Air Show.
